ORTHODONTICS DU.VAL.

DENTAL APPLIANCES MILAN

The lack of sufficient space for the correct positioning of the teeth in the maxillary arches is the basis of different types of  malocclusion. In such cases regardless of the  type of appliance  that will be mounted, whether you opt for one  lingual orthodontics  than for a  orthodontic treatment with aesthetic brackets, to correctly reposition the teeth we need to find space. In the arch the latter can be found either with an expansion of the teeth towards the cheeks or with tactical extractions.

It is actually difficult to accept, especially when you have to do it on behalf of your children, to have "good" teeth removed. However, it must be understood that a  expert orthodontist makes these choices to achieve the best and most stable results over time.

The choice is made on the basis of anatomical and aesthetic criteria.

From the anatomical point of view, in patients in whom extractions are indicated, the alternative of expanding the teeth towards the cheeks and lips would bring the roots out of the bone case and the dental crowns to impact against the thrusts of the facial muscles. In such cases, what happens is that the musculature will tend to return the teeth to their previous position, and that, especially at the level of the anterior teeth, they will form in a short time.  gum recessions  scary, as the teeth are off the bone which gives nutritional support to the gums.

On the other hand, from an aesthetic point of view, the extractions tend to "deflate" the profile, the expansions to fill it. For example, a patient with excessively prominent lips will certainly benefit more from an extractive orthodontic treatment than from an expansive one.

Anxiety, embarrassment  or  shame  for an orthodontic treatment they are the cause that usually leads adults to give up dental braces. However, orthodontic care is essential to solve certain problems: from realigning the teeth before making a bridge (fixed dental prosthesis) to preventing local and systemic damage to the  periodontal disease  until the achievement of a  star smile  with the consequent increase in one's self-esteem. Not everyone knows, however, that there are many therapies that can minimize the insecurity related to aesthetic discomfort  of a classic orthodontic appliance. Here are the main pros and cons of each:

Computerized orthodontics

The gold standard: allows the resolution of any malocclusion. Made with technique  Incognito  or  Win,   it is a  fixed appliance for invisible orthodontics characterized by thin brackets that are glued on the inside of the teeth.  Computer assisted orthodontics  it is characterized by a digitalized therapeutic plan design: this means extreme predictability of the result with the possibility of having the patient preview the final results even before starting. Like all stationary appliances, it requires attention to what you eat.

It causes some discomfort to the mucous membranes and discomfort to the tongue which usually disappear in the first two weeks.

Transparent masks

Method  Invisalign  or  Orthocaps. Excellent in cases of crowding or diastemas and in simple or medium-sized malocclusions, they consist in the application in succession of devices specifically designed on the dental arches. The pros of orthodontic aligners are represented by the fact that, being removable, the patient can remove them to eat what he wants, brush his teeth even with dental floss and maybe go out one night without. However, they cannot be said to be invisible and cannot intercept complex cases.
