FIXED DENTAL PROSTHESIS
The fixed dental prosthesis allows you to replace missing teeth or heavily damaged
permanently, guaranteeing the patient an impeccable smile, how's that
secured by natural teeth. The fixed dental prosthesis Yes consists of capsules and crowns
formed by materials such as zirconium and ceramic capable of ensuring a result
also optimal in terms of resistance and biocompatibility, as well as aesthetic. The latter
they are anchored by the dentist to the so-called "pillar elements", represented by plants
and natural teeth.
THE PHASES OF REALIZATION OF THE FIXED DENTAL PROSTHESIS
How is the fixed prosthesis made?
Once the integrity of the affected sites has been restored, the dentist will take the impression by inserting a tray-shaped impression tray arch or semi-arch depending on of the impression to be taken containing a special soft paste in the patient's mouth. The teeth of the latter will sink into the paste until it is completely hardened (usually the operation takes 2-3 minutes). Once the impression is taken, the dentist will extract the spoon from the patient's mouth with extreme delicacy, in order to avoid possible alterations to the cast obtained.
The impression will then be sent to the dental laboratory along with related shape and color information. You will thus get a prototype of the prosthesis on which all the necessary tests and necessary modifications will then be carried out before fixing it in the patient's mouth, providing him with all the information he needs for proper maintenance of the same (cleaning, use, precautions to be taken at the table, etc.) .
FIXED DENTAL PROSTHESIS WITH CAD / CAM COMPUTERIZED TECHNOLOGY
Dental prostheses made at the Du.Val. they are made with a precision technology, the CAD / CAM, without the use of such technology, the production of the fixed dental prosthesis can only be done manually with the grip of the dental impressions in the patient's mouth through the insertion of an ad hoc paste on a dedicated metal support, impressions subsequently sent to the dental laboratory for the realization of the plaster cast.
Thanks to computerized CAD / CAM technology, today it is possible designing fixed prostheses on the computer: the dental technician has the ability to quickly reproduce the plaster model obtained from the impressions by scanning it with a three-dimensional scanner capable of reproducing the product digitally. Once reproduced, any changes in shape, dimensions and thickness of the fixed prosthesis they can be realized through the computer. Once the CAD design phase is over, the CAM phase begins: the software creates a digital file and then sends it to a computer-assisted milling machine with advanced technology capable of processing it and carving and milling the block of material chosen for the fixed prosthesis in compliance to the information provided.
WHAT ARE THE ADVANTAGES OF THE CAD / CAM SYSTEM IN THE REALIZATION OF THE FIXED DENTAL PROSTHESIS?
The use of advanced computerized CAD / CAM technology allowed specialists in the dental technician field and patients to benefit from a long line of advantages in the production of fixed prostheses:
- Greater precision thanks to the use of the computer;
Ability to preview the result;
Considerably reduce their production times by eliminating a long series of steps.
WHY CHOOSE A FIXED DENTAL PROSTHESIS?
It is advisable to use a fixed prosthesis if you have healthy teeth: indeed for the making fixed crowns and bridges it is essential to rely on a substantial number of residual pillars, not excessively distant from each other and capable of guaranteeing adequate stability. In this case, a fixed dental prosthesis is still the solution today best to replace missing and / or severely damaged teeth, as the implants are able to integrate perfectly with natural teeth is from an aesthetic and biocompatible point of view, reproducing their functionality in its entirety (as proof of this is the fact that cleaning is normally performed with a toothbrush) ensuring enviable stability, an impeccable smile and easy chewing.
Advantages of the fixed dental prosthesis:
Perfect teeth;
Duration;
Functionality;
Savings;
Can also be used in case of edentulousness (total lack of teeth);
Non-invasive technique.
